ASSEMBLY INSTRUCTION OF TEXTILE EXPANSION JOINTS

1. STORING

1.1. An expansion joint shall be stored in original packing and it should neither be folded nor crushed with heavy objects, in order to prevent from tough distortions and bends.
1.2. A warehouse shall be cool (10 ÷ 20°C) and dry (humidity 20 ÷ 70%).
1.3. Gaseous solvents, fuels, and other aggressive chemicals shall not be stored in the same warehouse.
1.4. If expansion joints are temporarily stored outdoor, they shall be protected from train and snow with plastic foil.

2. TRANSPORT

2.1. Before loading, please make sure that the packing is not damaged.
2.2. It is forbidden to keep expansion joints in place with belts, ropes, or by hanging them on hooks.
2.3. It is acceptable to transport expansion joints on pallets.
2.4. Expansion joints shall be loaded in such a way that they are not damaged during transport with other objects, for example these with sharp edges.

3. ASSEMBLY

3.1. Before assembling an expansion joint, please make sure that the packing is not damaged.
3.2. Open the packing carefully, in order not to damage the expansion joint.
3.3. Expansion joints shall be assembled after welding and sanding, in the last stage, in order to eliminate risk of damaging the product.
3.4. Before disassembling an expansion joint, mark its flange and pressing band, so that when mounting the new expansion joint all the bolt holes overlap.
3.5. Flange surface shall be clean, smooth and free from burrs.
3.6. A pressing band and all edges in contact with the expansion joint shall not be sharp, because it can cause damages during operation.
3.7. While making holes for bolts on a flange, mind the previously made marks, as making holes in wrong places can cause twisting the expansion joint while assembling, when the bolt holes do not overlap.
3.8. Bolts shall be inserted from an expansion joint toward a pipeline. It prevents from damaging the outer textile of the expansion joint with bolt ends.
3.9. Fabric expansion joints should not be insulated from the external side, because it prevents air circulation.
3.10. Fabric expansion joints can not be covered with paints, because it can lead to dissolution of a sealing layer.

Caution:
Safety and reliability of system operation depends on a correct assembly of expansion joints.

All information in this catalogue is based on years of experience in manufacture and use of the discussed products. Since sealing performance in the joint is subject to multiple factors such as mounting method, system parameters, and sealed medium, technical parameters specified herein are of informative nature only and cannot be used as grounds for any claims; any special uses of products are subject to consulting with the manufacturer.
