GAMBIT AF-200 UNIVERSAL with the new DVGW ZP 5123 Certification for Hydrogen (H₂) Applications up to 100% by volume
Sealing challenges in hydrogen applications
Hydrogen, being the smallest molecule, easily penetrates even the smallest leaks. For this reason, durable and highly effective sealing solutions are of crucial importance in hydrogen applications.
Testing and certification at DVGW CERT GmbH
GAMBIT actively supports the development of the hydrogen industry by offering reliable and durable high-quality products. In order to ensure safety and compliance with the latest technological requirements, our AF-200 UNIVERSAL gasket sheet was submitted for testing at DVGW CERT GmbH – one of the most renowned certification bodies in Europe in the field of gas infrastructure. The material was subjected to specialised tests in accordance with the ZP 5123 certification programme. The obtained certification confirms that our gasket sheets meet the requirements for materials intended for modern gas and hydrogen systems.
Scope of the ZP 5123 certification programme
The ZP 5123 programme includes supplementary testing of gasket materials, extending the standard DIN-DVGW tests in accordance with DIN 3535-6 to include an assessment of material behaviour in a hydrogen environment. The tests focus on determining the specific hydrogen leakage rate, which serves as an additional parameter supporting designers and users in the selection of suitable sealing solutions for hydrogen installations.
Interpretation of results and user responsibility
It should be noted that the certification programme does not define a single permissible limit value for hydrogen leakage. Instead, it provides reliable comparative data that enable an assessment of material behaviour under real operating conditions. The final interpretation of the results should always take into account the specific application environment, such as system volume, installation design and ventilation conditions.
